Lighter Flowers

In addition to photographing the lighters I find, I also have begun making small sculptures of flowers from them. I use only the parts of the lighters I find, and so far I've made a Black-Eyed Susan, a Tulip, an Iris, a Lily, and a Daffodil. More of my lighter work can be found here and here.

Lighters - C-41

Here are some images from my Lighter Couple series, a subdivision from my on-going lighter project. It started seven years ago, when I became interested in the lighter as an object, and lighter/smoker culture in general. I have roughly 2,840 lighters to this date and continue to find them on the streets and sidewalks of Philadelphia.

I have sold some of my prints through BusyBee, and recently received an email informing me that one of these images will be shown in the See.Me gallery in New York this July!
You can see the art I have for sale at BusyBee here: BusyBee Art

The Rat Hunt

Here are some photographs I took at FDR Skatepark of two skateboarders hunting rats with a BB gun. A couple of the images were printed in the book FDR Skatepark: A Visual History. You can check out the book here. You can also check out some other FDR pictures I took here.

Yarn Boards

It started when I was in high school and was bored one afternoon. Unbeknownst to me that yarn painting has been a part of Mexican culture for years, I decided to pass the time by gluing yarn to a random piece of foam board. Although what I do is not as sophisticated as the original Huichol folk art, I've managed to create some things I'm not ashamed of. (I've also gotten into the habit of using old skateboard decks as my canvases).
Here are some images of a few of the boards I've made in semi-chronological order, some of which are for sale:
